always hungry after waking up
« on: May 21, 2010, 17:20:02 pm »
Hello,

My ds is 14 weeks old. He does fine on easy until he wakes early from a nap.  He wakes up super hungry regardless of how long he has slept.  Our schedule then gets messed up.  What do I do?

Thanks,
Sarah

hi there, are you breast feeding or bottle feeding? do you know how much he takes at a feed? and how long has this been going on for?

sometimes my DS wakes up hungry and I'm able to feed him and put him back down to finish his nap. He's EBF and sometimes if his previous feed was short this happens for us.

I remember when DS was that age, too, and we were trying to do the 3-4h EASY transition.  He was taking short naps (not due to hunger) but would be demanding to be fed as soon as he woke up from his short nap.  It threw everything off...I know how you feel.  If you know your LO isn't going through a GS--14 weeks is right in the middle of 2 big ones--then you might try a pacifier to tide him over.  It worked for us as DS's "demands" were more because he knew that it was EASE, not EASAE...if you get my drift.  I wasn't starving him; he wanted to eat because that was the pattern and bc he was still tired and eating comforted him.
