« on: May 31, 2010, 14:48:23 pm »
Me and my lo who is 4 weeks are doing the 3 hour easy routine. So far so good. My question is if say he fed at 10 then is due at 1 but doesn't wake up at 1 how pong would I leave him before waking him for the feed. Till 1.30 or 2? Thanks

As long as there is no medical reason to wake him, I would leave him to sleep for as long as he wants to.

Do you mean for day feeds or night feeds?

Just to clarify: I only meant that you wouldn't wake him at night.  During the day it is better to stick fairly closely to the 3h feeding routine to make sure that he gets enough calories during the day so he is less likely to wake up at night.

I would say wake him when he is due a feed if it's during the day as you need to get the majority of his calories into him during the day so he doesn't look for them at night/

we always woke for feeds in the day and let them go as long as they could at night, then started again at top of the day by waking for first morning feed if they weren't already awake.   this way they got their calories during the day and learned to sleep longer at night :)
