to drop the nap or not?
« on: June 24, 2010, 21:41:05 pm »
DS will be 3 in August. He doesn't take naps all the time - getting rarer and rarer. However, he needs some time alone in his room, but he doesn't like this. He starts smacking the walls with his hands/feet - VERY loud. I used to ignore, but the other day I was so upset by how loud it was (and pms :) that I walked in and said that if he could be quiet, he could keep his lovey (favorite sleep item ever) or if he continued it would go away. Well, he did it again, so I took lovey away. Tears, no nap, crying.

I felt awful for taking it away. I have continued that because he is just too rough with the door and walls - like it sounds like the door is coming down.

I don't know if he's ready to drop the nap, or what else to do. Thoughts?

What does your routine look like - with a nap I mean.

Could you put a CD on for him to listen to?
