does it really need to be that warm?
« on: June 23, 2010, 09:56:54 am »
the mornings we dont ahve a heater going in Calebs room he tends to wake up earlier, however im wondering if this really has anything to do with it at all? he wears flannelette PJ's, has a thick sleep sack, flannelette sheets, two blankets and a quilt, he doesnt ever really move around so much that his blankets come off, they are usually still tucked in and hes sstill under them by morning, so he cant still be cold could he?? when we put the heater on in his room we set the temperature to 17/18 degrees celcius so its not super hot and hes always been a hotter than normal boy too.
so im wondering does anyone else have this issue? or am i just imagining things, or is it just pure coincidence that he sleeps later and better with the heater on?

how many degrees is it without the heater? Even if he isn't cold as such maybe the difference in temperature does make a difference. Now in the summer heat DS seems to be sleeping more too. So maybe for Caleb the heater adds that extra coziness that helps to keep him sleeping.
Of course it could be coincidence you'd need to experiment to figure that out I suppose.

In the winter we have a heater which comes on in the early hours and I do think it helps.

does the heater make noise?  could it be the white noise that helps keep him settled as opposed to the heat?

we of course have central heat and we let the temp get quite low at night and the furnace doesn't kick in until 7 am (wake up time) and we have the reverse problem where they wake if they are too warm.

we find 5am the coldest time of the morning (here in NZ) so I keep the heater on in DD's room. It seems to help keep the chill out of the air. I wake around 5am without a heater on and have all the covers on so it might just be that he senses that drop in temp??

it's possible that he doesn't like the chill in the air, i don't personally.  I would want to put a blanket over my head and i hate breathing in very cold air.  perhaps that's what it is.  if it keeps him sleeping, i would do it :P lol
