Is taking a longer time to sleep UT or OT?
« on: July 06, 2010, 00:19:33 am »
Madi will be 20months on the 11th and we are still working on her earlier wake ups. They have slightly improved but not much! I reduced her nap to 2hrs now in return for an 11hr night. She used to always make up her sleep at night but lately she is averaging about 10.5-10.75 hrs a night.  I would assume this is normal for her age.  On days that she wakes up at 6:30am, I let her nap a little longer as I know she is getting a little OT.
The past three nights, she has been taking a little longer to fall asleep at night. She used fall asleep instantly and now it is taking a good 15-20min for her to fall asleep.  Not sure if she is telling me she is UT or OT.

Here is what our day looks like
wake between 6:30-7am
nap 12:15/12:30-2:30pm
bed 7:45/7:50pm
she normally falls asleep after 8 now

Is she teething Sabrina? If so maybe OT. If not maybe UT? Her A time possibly stretching a bit?

Hi there, it sounds a bit UT really, what is she doing in there when she's supposed to be going off to sleep?  Talking, playing, or crying?

What makes you think she's getting OT when you let her do the longer nap, is she acting different in the daytime?

I think her UT is causing her OT. Is that possible?
I am not sure if she is teething. We are still waiting for her 2year old molars.
Her morning A is not stretching that much. I can push her a little but she gets very sleepy.  At bedtime, she rolls around her crib, laughs a little or bangs her feet on the mattress. She does 5.5hours of A time but it takes her a little longer to fall asleep now.
Pushing out her nap has always given us a later wake up but don't want to push her out too much as I don't want a later bedtime ATM.  Selfish of me!  :P

No not selfish at all. I am the same :)
We are in the same exact position and tbh I have not worked it out yet either. Dropping off hugs though x

Not selfish at all! Us mommies need our early bedtimes! I know once 7 rolls along I can relax and clean up. It's so great having early bt's!

I think I would leave it until it starts affecting her wake up.  If she's taking longer to go off but waking at same time and not getting OT then I would probably not mess with anything.  But if that starts to shift things then you may have to step up the game :-)  It's not selfish to want your own time!  It's self-care not self-ish ;-)
