Assuming you mean when you click "Show new replies to your posts" you see new posts, even from a long timed ago...

There is no way to change that.  The only possible solution is to go through and delete every post you ever made on the threads in question, which will also destroy the continuity of the discussion that is there.  Sorry.

I've had to do that a couple of times when I wanted to unsubscribe from threads... But if they are really old maybe the continuity doesn't matter?

When I click on "new replies", I only scroll down a little bit, like maybe stuff from the past 10 days or so, and I never go beyond the first page...but I suppose if I did, it would go back over 3 years!

you can't unsubscribe from them, but you can mark them as read.  then, if there aren't any new replies, when you click on "show new replies to your posts" they won't be in the list anymore.

for example, say you click on "show new replies to your posts" and 5 pages of posts show up.  you realize you don't want to read anything on page 5.  so when you're on page 5, click on "mark all messages as read".  then the posts on page 5 won't show up on the list anymore.
