Naps and poop
« on: July 04, 2010, 06:26:10 am »
Hi,

DD is all over the place with naps and nights at the moment. I've noticed that she short naps when she poops. She sleeps either 30 or 45mins when this happens. It must wake her up and then she can't get back to sleep. I know their bowels relax when they sleep.

Anyone else had this? Is this a phase? It's driving me nuts as she is OT.

we have not had this but we did go through a phase where DS would wake early in the morning because of a poop. It was just a phase though thankfully x

how old is your lo?  can you introduce something like a bit of orange juice early in the day to get the poop done before nap time?  we went through a spell like this with dd (happened a couple of times , lasted a week or two) and the orange juice would get her to poop earlier and then things just sorted themselves out.

this might sound really silly (and I don't know what age your lo is) but can you ask her to do a poo before she goes to bed? Not sure if it would work but my DS since aged 1 will poo on demand and if I ask him to poo and he needs one he will do it within a minute or two!!

She is 16 months- I have been trying to give her fruit that I know aids her bowels but it seems she relaxes and out it comes. i might try sitting her on a potty and see what happens.

The juice might really be worth it. Dd was a great fruit eater but it wasn't until I gave her the orange juice that we had success.  Fwiw we don't drink juice here much at all. Only as a treat still and giving it those times didn't change that at all.
