Is this NW or just me needing to get another room
« on: August 17, 2010, 17:46:43 pm »
Hi everyone,

So what is really NW?
The sounds the child makes or the fact that the child wakes up and is awake?

The sounds Im talking about are those that woke me up this morning ( I dreamed it) when I was napping while Maxmilian was in daycare:-( YES, im so messed up I cant even sleep well when he is not around.
But its the sound that starts like complaining and may escalate into cry if I dont do anything (re plug his paci)
Sometimes he ll just make the sound and continue sleep for another 1-15 min but eventually he ll make it again and ask for the paci. I have been trying to teach him to replug on his own but he just doesnt know how to find the paci. Its fine when i point his hand, sometimes he ll even grab it and put it in his mouth on his own, but other times he ll just get upset and start crying.
So these complaining sounds can happen all through the night, every hour or 2.... On a good night ill have 4 hours straight and on a GREAT night, which has happend a few times 6 hours straight... I even had one night last week where he slept 10 hours without any sounds ( and this was one of his first days in day care where he only slept 40 min in the day) who would have thought , I know...

So these NW/complaining sounds, Ive tried to hold a track of, but they can happen more or less no matter what our day looks like. Ive tried low key activities, enough daytime sleep, earlier bedtime, later bedtime, you name it... (all over the past 5 months) But no luck, he just doesnt sleep through the night without waking me up.
We sleep in the same room, as i only have one bedroom appartment and no possibility of sleeping anywhere where I wont hear him. Is this the reason why?
Can it be discomfort, always teething? I just dont know what else to do... I cant get used to it either :-(

Does anyone have a clue?

Personally at this age I didn't count any NWs that were chatting or moaning - only a full blown cry. After all, we WANT the child to wake, momentarily - but to be able to settle themselves again. A full night if sleep with no wakings at all probably isn't realistic.

Ok thanks Anna... i forgot to say that he "complains" even with his paci in the mouth... but he continues to sleep... This helps to know! :-)
