No Dinner ?
« on: July 28, 2010, 11:27:46 am »
Hi Ladies

Tyler is 8 months old and is in nursery 3 days of the week, when he comes home he is so tired I cant get him to take any food, sometimes he will have a rusk with milk but mostly not, so he just has his bottle before bed.  He has a bottle at 3pm in nursery, but i think its just tiredness stopping him from eating as when i offer food, he just rubs his eyes.  Yesterday he managed a bit of banana and a biscuit.
Any ideas ?

Sarah

Poor little mite, too sleepy to eat! I'd have a look at his nap schedule at nursery and go from there.

Is he waking at night?

He has been due to his teeth, and he's been taking a full bottle.  His naps in nursery are never longer than 30-45 mins but he has 3 rather than the 2 long ones at home.

Poor poppet, too tired for dinner! I wouldn't worry. At this age it's not essential that he gets three meals of solids, especially if he's not waking hungry in the night.

If his teeth are hurting him and interfering with naps, will the nursery let him have pain meds at sleep time to see if they help him get some sleep?

I also think you shouldn't worry much. My LO is 10.5 months and never really have dinner as he is also normally tired for it. He never lost any weight because of it and is a very healthy boy! If your LO is having enough formula between 500ml-600ml and some breakfast and lunch and some snacks when needed he will be fine! :)

Plus, as he gets older his A times will increase and nap times and bed times will be adjusted accordingly. He'll likely take some dinner when he's not so tired at that particular time. :)
