Now trouble waking up??
« on: September 20, 2010, 12:42:03 pm »
Now Milo is taking naps on a regular basis, something i've noticed is that he tends to wake up in a really bad mood, especially after his longer afternoon nap. He'll cry as soon as he wakes up, and will be ok if held, but will scream if put down. This can carry on for up to 20 minutes after waking up  :-[ Won't even calm down for his favourite snack - in fact seeing his snack will make him even more frustrated. Now i can really sympathise with him because i'm always grumpy when i wake up  ;) but i wondered if something like changing the length of his nap might help? His nap is usually about 90 minutes. I could wake him up earlier, but i'm not sure about stretching it out as once he's past about an hour and 15 minutes, he doesn't tend to settle back down again. I've tried offering him water/milk/snacks/distracting with toys, but nothing seems to be working..

90mins is a good length for a nap as it's about 2 sleep cycles.  I think some LOs just take a while to come round.  Are you waking him after that time or does he wake on his own?
