Hi everyone,

I need help. My 10 1/2 week old daughter, Eleyna won't sleep through the day. A couple of weeks ago i was able to get her to sleep in her cot for 45mins, three or 4 times a day. Sometimes I could pat her through a sleep cycle and get a whole hour and a half out of her. This last week especially, she has hardly slept in the cot or in my arms. She is always fighting sleep. I hate always picking her up to sleep as i don't want to start bad habits. Even now it doesn't always work.

This is our routine: (example of times only)
Eat: 7:00am
Awake: 7:10am till 8:00am to 8:15am.
Sleep: Put to bed at the first yawn. Spend the next 20mins to 1/2 in the cot helping her go to sleep - doesn't do it, cries, or just lies there quiet but not sleeping.

Next feed is due at 10am (feed earlier or later IF she has or has not slept) and the process continues, but only gets worse throughout the day.

By 6pm when her final feed is due, she feeds and sleeps 8hrs.

Can someone suggest any help for what to do.

Thank you
Jessica

Hi Jessica,

Have you tried laying her down around 8:05 to give her 10 or so minutes to fall asleep?  The average A time for a LO this age is 1h15-20min and if you are putting her down at this time, she might be OT already and find it hard to settle to sleep.  Some folks say that by the time they get a sleepy cue, that it is too late.

Just a thought - maybe you could give it a try?

Thanks. Will give it a try. We got  two lots of 20min naps out of her yesterday - something that has happened in a week!

Thanks again.
