day 7 can I be doing this right?
« on: August 22, 2010, 12:57:24 pm »
feeling pretty mashed up - just can't seem to get him past the 40 minute thing - today so much screaming - my Mum has taken over which is a real blessing but maybe making it worse?

Shouldn't the worst be over now? Just want what's best for my wee man and I'm losing faith  :( :'(

Hiya,
I am having the same problems.  My little boy is 13 weeks 'spirit' baby and just doesnt give in to sleeping.  We know he can do it as he has gotten himself to sleep before so I dont know what the problem is.  We take approx an hour to put him to sleep then he sleeps for 30-45 minutes :( and is still tired and cryng when getting up.
Had a terrible day today, my eyes were as red and swollen as my little boys from crying so much so when my hubby came home I came on this site to read some tips - tomorrow I am going to try:

Swaddling - we do this at bedtime and he sleeps great, hopefully he will associate this with sleeping and if I can get him to sleep swaddled then he wont wake himself up with his jumpy arms
Limiting Activity Stimulation - I have read other peoples posts which say that their babies have slept better when they hav had more relaxed activities during the day so tomorrow we will read books, have tv down low etc

I left a post (lindy loo) on the naps forum too so have a look and hopefully you'll feel better that you're not alone - I find it comforting that im not the only one in hell at the moment! ;)

Lx

I haven't had a chance to read thru all your posts, but was wondering if maybe reflux and/or teething might be playing a part in things going so hard on you all. Have you had a read of the Reflux101 thread? http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=654.0 .

When Josie was a baby and we called our doctor about her screaming at sleep time, the response we got from the nurse was, "Ma'am, babies CRY. They spit up. It's what they DO." Fortunately I hung up on her, called back, got a DIFFERENT nurse, and bullied my health plan into seeing my baby -and wow, were they surprised when they saw the extent of Josie's reflux. THEN we got some medication and some non-medical things to try, and once on meds she could SLEEP and was a totally different baby. :) It also helped us get her naps extended, which changed her from a totally hair-trigger Touchy to an almost-Textbook with shades of Touchy, making it easier on all of us for sure.

Lindyloo, I just posted on your other thread, but in case you see this one first, check out this on the Naps FAQ's about short naps around 3 months: http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=649.0
