New to this, help pls?!? :(
« on: August 16, 2010, 08:21:58 am »
Hi,

I only started the EASY routine yesterday and would like some of you more experienced mums to take a look at how it went pls.

I do have the problem in that if I try to feed my daughter before she is really ready for it then she is sick. SO because of this her first feed of the day can be anywhere between 6am and 8am, making it really hard to know what to do next!!

yesterday was like this

A - 7am
E - 7.30am
A - 7.50am
S - 8.30am

A - 10am
E - 11am
A - 11.20am
S- 11.45

A - 1.15pm
E - 2pm
A - 2.20pm
S - 2.45pm

A - 4pm
S - 4.45pm
E - 5.15pm
A - 5.30pm

E - 7.30pm
S - 7.45pm
DF - 10pm
E - 4.30am

Arrrghhh what a mess that is!!   :( :(  She's also got into the habit of waking at 4-4.30am for a feed, which isn't a problem except she then decides to stay awake for anything up to 2hrs after that feed (the only time of day we manage EA instead of ES) she is bottle fed, always goes down to bed awake and is fab at settling herself to sleep, just needs her music on, no dummy or help from me at all! She has gastric reflux and possible dairy intolerance (my youngest son had the same thing) and so is on prescription formula and gaviscon. SHe doesn't seem to want feeding immediately on waking, she needs some awake time first!!

Also, she doesn't seem to be taking very much formula at all, only around 3-4oz per feed, im sure my sons were on more than this by her age!!

Oh, she is 10wks and my 3rd baby so routine has to fit in with doing things with my older sons!

SO far today

A - 6am
E - 7.30am
S - 7.45am

She is still sleep now, although keeps waking on and off (settling herself back each time) I was planning on getting her up at 10am as she should be wanting a feed between 10 and 10.30ish!!

HEEEELLLPPPP!!

Hey there hun, welcome to the boards :)

I notice that your naps are really fab, and well done on having an independent sleeper ;)

Have you ever tried W2S for the night waking?

HI,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I must admit to feeling very lucky at how well she sleeps, she has always self settled from day one, maybe cos she's had to a lot of the time as I have been doing things with her brothers?!?!  :)

Last night was better she fed at 4am and went back off by 4.30

Gonna feel really silly here but what is W2S  I read it means wake to sleep but what do I have to do for that?   :-[ :-[

ALso another quick question  ???

She often wakes at 6am (as this morning) but wont go till 8.30 for first S do I put her down early (prob about 7.45/8) and give her a longer S or try to keep her going? I always have to wake her from her naps anyway!!!   :-\ :-\

Have just had a very quick read up on the W2S and dont know if it would work with her. When she NW she will stir first anytime between 2-4am (but not need anything) and then finally give a little shout when she actually needs the feed usually between 4-5am. during the time she is stirring she is fidgety, and huffs and puffs a lot, although her eyes are closed the whole time and I believe she is asleep. I wouldn't have a clue as to when I should stir her to try and stop her actually waking as it varies so much.

I really never had much luck with W2S, but lots of mums say it worked fab for them. So, maybe you could try during the time interval of 4-5, however I'm sure you'd get great advice if you were to post on the General Sleep forum.
