3 days of bad naps...where am I going wrong?
« on: August 25, 2010, 08:37:59 am »
Hi

DS is now 13 weeks. Still takes approx 4 naps per day. Sometimes three. Doesn't nap well out and about at all so 99% of naps are at home in the cot in his room. I do AP the odd cat nap in the baby bjorn carrier but he will only sleep if I am moving and even then, only for 20mins max.

Anyway, back to my three days of bad naps.

His A time is about 1hr 20. If I go over this by 5mins or so, he is really a struggle to put down. If I stick to 1hr 20, he will go to sleep independently with no fuss.

But for the last three days, in his first nap, he's woken after 45mins. So that's OT right? Surely at 13 weeks he's not OT after that A time (he's had that A time for about 4 weeks).

And then it goes downhill from there. Yesterday, his second nap, after 1hr 20 A was 55mins, and then this third was the same.

HELP!

45 mins is often UT... Could you try extending his A time every so slightly, just an extended wind down?

Hi Anna

I just said to DH this morning that perhaps we need to extend his A time. The problem we have with him is his fussiness when he is awake. And he is a dream to put down at 1hr 20 but when I go to 1hr 30 he is a nightmare. But perhaps I will try again.

Today's wake up in his first nap was at 45mins then he laid in his cot for 20-30mins making a bit of fuss, then went back to sleep when I put the white noise on. He went down at 08:50 and just about to wake him now at 11:00.

You could try 1hr25 if he's touchy about his sleep?
