Cranky after catnap until bedtime?
« on: September 13, 2010, 23:50:37 pm »
7:00 wake and reflux medicine
7:30 feed
9:00 Nap
11:30 feed
1:30 Nap
3:30 feed
5:30 cat nap
6:15   <------------ cranky
7:00 feed
7:30 bed

If I keep him entertained sometimes with my hair or singing or talking or whining with his blanket he's okay, sometimes not. I mean he'll eyes get red around them and he'll cry tears.

Hi ya

is he waking up on his own from the CN or are you waking him up? Does he go to sleep easily? Is his reflux totally under control? Could the medication have worn off by that time of the day (sorry no experience with reflux)? How long has be been getting cranky after CN or has he always been cranky after CN? Does he sleep through the night?

Check out some of these sample routines they might help http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=164029.0

he might be ready to increase his A times just a little bit...check out this link http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=84884.0

Coming up to the 5-6 month mark is when a lot of LOs drop the CN...what does your gut tell you? Do you think he is ready for an A time increase?

xx

*** Forgot to add Dreamfeed at 10 PM

I wake him from cat nap if it's over 45 minutes, but sometimes he wakes up on his own by then.  I've heard reflux peaks at 4 months.  We are going to the doctor for his 4 months next week.  So we should get some answers in that area.  He's activity time is 2hours or really close to it.  As for night, some nights not a peep, but others he whine for a bit and resettle mostly on his own.

hmmm....be interesting to see if the doc says there could be a connection to the reflux and that time of day...what do you think about upping A times? All in all in sounds like the routine is pretty good...is he waking up cranky or does he get cranky shortly afterwards? maybe he needs that last A time to be a little shorter, you could try bringing BT earlier to 7-715pm see if that helps...many LOs like that last A time to be a little shorter, its quite common x

I'm thinking perhaps that last A time is too long for him...you could try to experiement with an earlier bed tie for a few days see if that helps...but as well, that time is called the witching hour and its very common for babies to be cranky around that time whether they are on EASY or not...its something they grow out of x

well, its funny you say that cause at that age a warm bath really helped to relax my son so I started to do it nightly as part of the going to bed routine, it worked for us and still does, it kind of indicates to him whats coming...who knows, if it works go for it!
