Need help with 8wk old, second child
« on: September 13, 2010, 19:58:38 pm »
I am having a very hard time doing EASY with my 8wk old DD who has a 3yr old spirited older brother. We have to be out of the house by 9am with DS, an extremely spirited child, or he starts to climb the walls and go crazy. Playing in the backyard is no longer an option for him. So I am having a really hard time getting DD on any type of schedule. She is not a daytime napper, never has been. When she does nap, it is for 30-45min at a time. She will sleep 7hrs at night without feeding, then sleep for another 2-3. It is very hard for me to work with her on naps due to the high attention needs of DS.

Any suggestions for me on how to help DD with her naps and getting her on EASY?

Will she nap in a sling while you are on the move? I had a friend who also used a little light cotton hat rolled down over her baby's eyes to block out light when they were out and about.

Yes and no. She will for that 45 minute window and then wakes up and is done. Sigh.

((((hugs)))) I know it's not idea, but lots of them at this age are doing only 45 mins naps and at least it means you can keep up with DS on the go. If it was me, I think I would probably AP naps as much as possible for the next few weeks, and then try and do some sleep training around 12 weeks over a weekend or when you've got some help with DS.
