WWYD?
« on: October 25, 2010, 07:43:11 am »
We have 2 fireworks displays to go to this week and next. I really think B would enjoy it so much but both of them dont actually start until 7.30/8pm. One of them is actually a memorial for my dear friend who passed away a year ago. She got her ashes made into a firework! I really cant miss it!

So anyways DH suggested maybe not giving DS a nap and letting him sleep in the car on the way to the display ( about 1 hour away) so he could hold it together for the fireworks and wee after party. I'm not too sure. It would mean he would sleep at about 5pm. I dont mid mopping up the OT the next day but really dont want him to kose the plot when we are actually there.

What do you do when you have to have a late night with the kiddos?

Or you could give a slightly later nap at home, like just an hour later than normal, and go to the dispay in jim jams so they sleep on the way home and you just transfer them to bed?

I love your dear departed friends' idea of going out with a bang, so to speak!

I usually try for a later nap too, it generally works and they are fine at the event where there is plenty to distract them. If it's really late for them I change them into jim jams before we leave for home so they can go straight into bed. That said, neither of mine are spirited like B so would that work for him?

Mmmmmm. Never tried a late nap before really. He's pretty much on a set time now ( midday ) but it can swing 30 mins either way depending on wake up etc. I'm not sure he would go down but I guess its worth a try.

Def going for the jim jams though!  ;D

Only ever done it once before, quite recently and he lost the plot about 8.30pm, fell asleep in the car on the way home and went straight to bed. That was with a normal naptime though.

Emma is spirited but also part-angel...

I would go for a later nap and perhaps not wake him (my two would be/have been 3 hr nappers and 10 hour nigthers given half the chance at this age....) so let him sleep as long as he wants and then go with jim jams...

Yep later nap and let him go as long as he will.  Later bedtime then clean up OT next day or two.  Lather rinse repeat for next fireworks.  On a side note, so sorry about your friend but what a really cool idea to go out with a bang, pardon the pun.  I have never heard of anything like that.
The tweaking never stops!
