EW interfering with 2 to 1 transition
« on: November 09, 2010, 12:51:36 pm »
I am a newbie to posting but have LOVED all the information I have gotten from this forum.  Many thanks to all who keep it up.

I have a nearly 18 month old who was finally on a one nap schedule, his day looked something like this

Wake 7:30 AM
Nap 12:30-1 for 2.5-3 hours
Bed 8 Pm

For the last 2 weeks he has been getting up at 5:30-6 and its been a struggle to make it till nap time.  He sometimes ends up with a cat nap in the car while running errands.
I have tried going on a soothing him, and most often end up lying down on the couch with him for an hour or so trying to convince him to get a few more minutes of sleep.

I'd love to get back onto a 7 or 7:30 wake up and any thoughts would be helpful.

We have thought of putting him down earlier but he never really seems ready for sleep till 7:30 at the earliest.

Many Thanks!

Hi there, some do drop some sleep around 18 mths, it can be a wonky time.  What's happening with his teeth?  If he's not teething then perhaps the EW is due to his nap being too long.

I would try with cutting back the nap a tad, maybe 2 hrs?  You will need to figure out where the nap needs to fall in that case.

In the meantime, I would bring bedtime back a tad or he's just going to get really OT.
The tweaking never stops!
