cant believe Im actually asking this question
« on: December 30, 2010, 07:11:32 am »
should I cap the nap? he usually sleeps 1.5 hours but today he did 2 hours and its taken me about 30mins longer to get him to bed. I love my evening so spending another 30mins taking him back to bed rather than just having him fall asleep isnt ideal.

So should I cap it at 1.5? he does 11 hours at night

BTW he will be 2 in a few weeks

Try an hour and 45 mins. Not as big of a leap as 1.5 hours. It might just do the trick. If it doesn't, then I'd go to 1.5. DS always has a 1 hr 45 min nap - any longer and we get bedtime refusal. Any shorter and we get NW. Crazy what 15 mins can do! :)

I agree. Try cutting by 15 mins. My lo is 2 in march, he has between 45 mins and 1.5 hours nap and is pretty much sleeping 12 hours. He goes to bed at 730 and takes 10 or 15mins to settle and this week he has been waking at 730 even 745am!!! I feel like a new women this morning!!

He hasn't always been doing that and have recently gone through phase of ew and nw so I am sure your lo will get back on track.

hmm well i realised it wasnt actually a 2 hour nap, it was a 1 hour 50min nap, when he did a 1 hour 45 min nap the other day i didnt have this issue.
then he ended up only sleeping 10 hours 15mins overnight, so up at 6.30am! was hoping that the later bedtime (8.15) wouldve meant at least until 7am

also he woke up so darn happy, he always wakes up miserable, always has his entire life. takes him 30-45mins to come right whereas yesterday he was up and smiling. I guess its a matter of choosing which i want, the shorter nap and earlier bedtime or let him sleep and later bedtime. Im just so tired all the time, darn 1st trimester exhaustion, that i cant keep going with him till 8pm!

how is it that he needs 6 hours before a nap and 5.5-6 hours after till bedtime! why isnt he like the others who need one of the A times to be shorter!!!
