Is this the start of 2-1 or just needing an increase in A timeS?
« on: December 29, 2010, 04:33:01 am »
Hi again ladies!
Just wondering about my DS who is almost 11 months...he is starting to regularly refuse his am nap,or it is getting shorter and shorter. he is tired and grumpy after them but im wondering if its me not giving him as muc A time as he might like?(as usual :))
His EASY is all over the shop, but his typical A tie (after 7pm bedtime, wakes at 530 for feed and usually sleeps til 6.30-7 after that)
so typical A time would be about 3 hours, nap about 35mins and then A time of 3-31/2 hrs nap for about 1.5hrs sometimes only 45mins.
So I know its messy but what is the usual A time for an almost 11 months old? He is quite a big boy too (weighs about 11kg!)
TIA as usual
:)

Kym,
Our LOs are the same age and Ethan is doing 4.5 hours A in the am....HOWEVER we're pretty much on one nap for about a month.  NOT typical but after fighting him for well over 6 weeks I'm giving in.  I'm definitely no expert, but I think your DS might need more A time in the morning.

3hr A time for an 11mo does sound very short, especially after a 12hr night.

Could you try stretching his first A time in 15 min increments every few days, and see what happens?

My LO is almost 11mo and has about 4-4.5hr A time, but he does seem to like his A time on the long side. We hit a simliar problem when he was 9mo, and stretching A time seemed to work.

Let us know how you get on. x

This is the time where things can be a bit messed up and the day is longer to fit everything in.  It does take some playing around with.  We made the switch to one nap at 12 months but my LO was already doing about 4-4.5 hours A time easily and I think they have to able to manage the longer A times to cope with one nap.  A lot of LOs go through the 2-1 switch for a while before they are ready for one nap.

Let us know how things are going when the teething setttles down xx

Happy new year!
