don't know what I'm doing wrong
« on: December 28, 2010, 20:32:36 pm »
Hi,my ds is 11 months old and for the last 10 days he screams and cries when put down to sleep. At first when i put him down he does his usual mantra cry for about 5 min but than this loud piercing screach comes out and he cries and screams,so i go in reassure him and he settles but as soon as i leave the room he starts again.so i pick him up and and he is quiet but than he starts crying and pushing away from me as if wants to be put down in his cot but as soon as i put him down this really loud piercing scream comes out again :'(
He has been teething for the last month or so and week ago he had fever so took him to his gp and he gave him some antibiotics...
I really don't know what is wrong, can somebody help please?

Can you post your EASY?  Sleep can get wonky around this age when LOs are getting ready for the 2-1 switch.

Do you think he's still teething?  If so it might be really hard to do much with his sleep. :(

thank you for your reply,i guess he was still teething because few days later he was better and now he is fine and he sleeps through the night again without any major problems :)
Regarding the 2:1 switch,i don't think he is ready yet,he still requires his morning nap as well as his afternoon nap but just in case here is his routine:
6.30am   awake and bottle
8 am      breakfast
10 am     nap
11-11.30 lunch
2.30-3 pm nap
3.30-4 pm awake,snack
5 pm       dinner
6.30pm     bath and bed time routine
7 pm        bottle and bed

Yay!! :D

Well if the routine is working, don't rock the boat. ;)  It does look like you're on the road to 2-1, though, since his PM nap is short.  His total nap time does look a bit low for his age, so I'd just keep that in mind even if you don't do anything about it at the moment.  Many people find that with the 2-1 a short AM nap will yield a longer PM nap.  For instance, waking him after 45 min at the AM nap and then doing a slightly shorter A time and then he'll probably do a longer PM nap and about a 4h A time to bed.

Just something to think about as you go along! :D
