Did good naps ruin night sleep?
« on: March 06, 2011, 11:36:46 am »
My DS is 12w and slipped into the 45 minute nap cycle over weeks 9-12, but night time sleep was fine with 1-2 night wakings around 2 and 4 (paci at 2, feed at 4).  But yesterday I did HTTJ for each nap to lengthen them to 1.5h, and our night was miserable!  He was difficult to get down, and woke every couple hours.  Not sure how to proceed!  Advice appreciated!

I've always found that the better they sleep in the day then the better they sleep at night.  How much day sleep did he have?

He had 5 hours 45 minutes of sleep yesterday (1-2h, 2-1.5h, and one 45 min catnap).  I am trying 3-1.5h and a catnap today to see if this helps.

How did last night go with the naps yesterday?  Great that you've got him napping so well!  You might just want to play around with them a bit and see what works to make ensure he has a good nights sleep!

We got 3-1.5 hour naps plus 45 min catnap yesterday with me HTTJ on all longer naps).  Last night was better with the usual 2 and 4 am wakeups.  But he was then up and wanting to stay up at 5:30.  Gave him the paci a couple times to get to 6:10.  Thought he was hungry but is not eating.  (This appears to be another issue we are facing - he wants to take all his calories from 7pm-7am instead of vice versa.)  Going to cut out the 4am feed Thursday night.  Feel like the issues are stacking up - wish we could wean swaddle so he can find his hand, but it hasn't worked so far.  Would LOVE to wean paci.  Argh!
