DS isn't STTN @ 8 month
« on: March 23, 2011, 08:30:40 am »
Hi there
My DS is now 8 mo and hasn't STTN for months now.
We started EASY from day 1 with him and we enjoy the routine very much.

I'll answer the guide questions:
How old is your child? 8 mo
What’s his/her daily routine?
OUr routine, briefly:
6:30 wake up + BF
8:30 breakfast (cereal/fruits)
9:30ish nap
11:00 snack
13:00 lunch
14:00 nap
16:00 BF
18:00 dinner
19:00 bath + bedtime routine
19:30 BF
and going to sleep

What’s nap routine? 2 naps a day. Sometimes capnap is added, if needed. Going to sleep w/o a problem. Sleeps 1-2 hours each time. Used to have short naps or wakings in the middle of the nap but seems to be ok for the last month or so.
What's bedtime routine? Time? Dinner @ 6, bath at 7, BF @ 7:30 and going to sleep for the night. Next meal is whwn he wakes up at 6:30a.m.
Do you bottle or breastfed?? I breast feed + solids
If breastfed.. one side or both?? (at each feed) 2 sides
How many wakes per night? 3 on a "good" night, up to 8-10 on a bad one
What’s your LO like when waking at night? How long is he/she up? just asking for paci and going back to sleep
What do you do for A time and how long is it? He likes to stand now. so we stand... during lunch A we go out for a walk in the stroller.
Are there developmental issues such as teething or milestones? probably not relevant as this have been going on for months now. I think it more a habit issue.
Do they have a prop? If so what is it? paci.
Do they have a lovie? no

My guess is that he got used to waking up. He isn't really waking up. Just crying with his eyes shot and going back to sleep when we give him his paci.

Any ideas??
Thanks al ot!

He knows how to replug during the day (learned about a week and a half ago)
Still not during the night.
Hoping that would come soon as well.

Any idea way he wakes up to begin with?

All babies wake during the night, just like all humans do - the thing is, what they need to learn how to do is to roll over and go back to sleep again! When he can replug at night, hopefully he will do just that. Does he have lots of pacis in his crib at night so he can find one? A dim nightlight? I think when you go in you should put his hand on the paci and then get him to replug himself, so that he knows he has to do it and not have mama do it.

I haven't thought about that (helping him during the night)!
I'll try that starting tonight.

Thanks.

A short update:

For the last 2 nights DS almost didn't wake up!
The difference is - I changed his blanket from a winter one to a lighter one.
Apperently being too warn caused him to wake up many times during the night.
I started putting him down with light cover also for the day naps and he sleeps much better.
