Well ladies I think that was the right solution.  Giving the medicine earlier and moving the nap back a little.

She ended up sleeping 90 minutes!  I am VERY VERY happy with that.  And ever since she has still gone down on her own just talking to herself in her crib for about 15 min like she used to.  The acid reflux had to be the problem preventing her from doing that laying down in her crib, hence all the crying and standing up over and over again.

The only thing is yesterday and today she only slept 30 min but she also has a very low fever and very runny nose so I think a bit of a cold or something is what is effecting her sleep now.  But she is still going down very easily on her own so I feel confident the acid is being controlled with the meds and she will be able to sleep longer once this cold is gone.  She is having a tough time breathing so I think that's why she is waking up early.  I put her down for the night 30 min early just to make up some of the sleep.  She also woke in her sleep last night crying and I could hear she had trouble breathing through her nose.  I've put on the humidifier and gave her meds to help for tonight.

So I *think* that is it and have fingers and toes crossed that we won't have problems after this cold is gone and hopefully will know when to wean her off the meds again and won't have trouble after she is off of them.

Too bad she got this cold, or I would have had a little more consistency to see how her sleep is going.  We went to a party at a park on Sunday and there were tons of kids there, even kids not from our group, so it's easy to see how it could have happened.

Honestly now it seems so obvious it was the reflux...I was having so much trouble when she was a baby and doing everything textbook, even making slight changes per the BW forum and nothing was working and I was feeling so defeated...like I was just trying SO hard but not getting anywhere.  And then we got her reflux meds right and everything just fell into place within a week.  It was wonderful.  It feels very much like that is happening again.

Thank you so much ladies!  I'll let you know if anything changes.  Right now it looks like I'm just going to stay the course as much as I can and wait for this illness to pass and see how it goes from there.

Good Night!

That's so wonderful!!!

Too bad about the illness, but yes, stay the course and hopefully things will fall back in to place. Reflux hindsight really is 20/20. All mine were medicated quite a bit later and once they were I was like: "oh, yep that was reflux". Sometimes it's easier to see from the outside looking in. That's why I truly love these forums. Ithers can read what's going on in your home but they're detached from the sleep deprivation and screaming and can look at things detached from you. Having others look at my situations has gotten me much more sleep :)

That's wonderful that she's more comfortable and able to sleep independently. And of course that you're getting a break ;)

I am so pleased you have found the culprit!!  Hope the cold goes away soon.

Naps were always the first thing to go wrong when we had reflux issues.

Thanks ladies.  Just an update that the reflux seems to be under control. Naps are going *pretty* OK.  We've had an off day here or there but those were days where I had unavoidable errands and a disruption to our normal routine so I think that's way.

By the way we've had her new toddler bed set up in her room for the past couple of months, wanting her to get used to it before transitioning her in before baby#2 is born this spring...and now she is asking to go in the bed at nap time.  So I think that I'll see if I can get a good week of naps now that the cold is finally gone out of her, then transition to the new bed.

I know this can yet again cause havoc on sleep but at least I know she doesn't have a cold, and doesn't have reflux, and teething pain medication is under control, so we'll just see where it goes from there.

If it doesn't work then I can always wait a week and try again.  That has been successful for us in the past.

I TOTALLY agree - hind sight is 20/20 with the reflux. I try to think of everything else it could be but looking back, that was it all along. Same thing happened before when she was first diagnosed.  The thing is I went to her Doctor before and they were (I guess rightly so) hesitant to say reflux and hand out meds.  So all this wait and see, and try this and that first, had to happen (and suffering for us both) before we got the prescription written.  This time since I had 4 weeks of trial and error under my belt I was able to just get it but I could see that if I hadn't he would have been less willing to give it out to me.

Fingers crossed it all goes well from here.   Thanks so much ladies!

Oh that's wonderful hun!

Reflux is a monster in itself and you always know *after* that it was the culprit. So happy for you that it's under control. :D

So glad to hear too that she's asking to go into the BGB. That'll make the transition so much easier for her. And for you too ;)
