Thanks for your well wishes!  He's much better, thank goodness.  I wanted to report that we've had some success this week - finally!!!  It seems that a 5:15 A time after an 11 hour night yields us a 1:30+ nap.  And an A time of 5:45 after a 12 hour night yields us a 1:30+ nap (even did 2:30 the other day - woo hoo!).  Strangely, he seems to need EXACTLY those A times (give or take 5 min) or it doesn't yield the same kind of nap.  This kid!  Anyway, I hope that maybe this helps someone else!??!

Hope E is all better and glad to see you figured out how to get a longer nap!  I think we've just had a bit of a jump in activity time here - though after reading what Alice has just said, I'm also wondering if my DS is feeling a bit 'wired'???  We have been doing long nights of around 12 hours and still a good 2 - 2.5 hour nap in the day.  I've been putting him down at around 5 hours activity in the morning lately, but even that was a jump from our recent 4.5 hour recent morning activity.  Today at 11.30am when he was having his lunch he didn't look 'tired' but I put him down at the usual 12pm and he did a 1.5 hour nap and woke chatting from it - did the same yesterday.  I noticed yesterday he was fine on a 1.5 hour nap and did bed at 6.30pm and he slept til 7am.  I think for us, I either keep nap at 12pm and if nap is only 1.5 hours then do bed at 6.30pm, if nap is 2+ hours, then bed at 7pm.  If nap falls below 1.5 hours then I'll shift it up slightly.  I've always found DS's tired signs really easy but lately he's become a 'real boy toddler' and I can't help but think that his hyperness is his new tired signals.  At this stage I'm going to keep things at 12pm nap before I do anything drastic.  It seems from reading this post that most are doing 5 - .5.5 hours pre/post nap so I guess we're the same as that...  I had a quick look in another routine book I have and it said that at 16 months 12pm is a good nap time and that at 18 months 12.45pm is a good nap time (this is based on a 7am wake up) - but still keeping the 7pm bedtime, even though nap moves up...  So I will keep that in the back of my mind...

Yeah, I'm wondering if maybe the set nap sort of kicked in b/c even today, after a 12 hour night - he did an A time 0f 5:30 and a 2 hour nap.  Yesterday I got a 1.5 hour nap and a 12 hour night - FINE BY ME.  Keep your fingers crossed that this lasts!!!!!!!
