what's with the sudden NW? 15 months old.
« on: March 20, 2011, 03:46:18 am »
Hi I was just wondering if any one has any ideas what's going on with my daughter?... she's 15.5 months and has been sleeping through since 9 months old.

However the last two weeks she has been difficult to settle and I have had to do walk in walk out for 5-20 minutes each time I put her down (she used to settle straight away), she is also waking up once overnight again. When she wakes up overnight her dad will go in a lay her back down and she often goes straight back to sleep but sometimes it takes half an hour or so.

she wakes up at 7am, has a nap at 11.30 after an early lunch and goes to bed at 6.30pm.
Her nap is usually between 1-2 hours.

I don't know why she is suddenly getting into a pattern of waking up overnight. At first I though it was teething but she seems to have cut 4 molars already.

Hi there...

I was going to suggest teething, as 1st year molars come through at around 15 mths.

Is she just difficult to settle at BT or for naps as well?

Although your routine looks ok, I do think you could push her nap back a bit later (12pm-ish) & then also do a slightly later BT (7pm-ish).

When she wakes at night, what does she do? Is she crying? Babbling? etc

Hi, we are in the process of pushing out the day time nap I am aiming for a 12 noon nap in the next few weeks, it's been taking a while because she only dropped the second nap at 14 months and I have been pushing out the morning nap by 15 minutes every 3-4 days as suggested in the book.

She has been difficult to settle during the day before her nap as well as at night and it's taking me 5-20 minutes with walk in walk out where as she used to settle immediatly... could this be seperation anxiety?

At night when she wakes she cries straight away and sounds quite distressed, we do leave it a few minutes but usually end up going in and laying her back down and she will often settle quite quickly after this.

Has she has SA before?

The below link might help....

Difficulty settling & crying usually indicate OT/SA &/or pain/discomfort.

Do you think she could be OT from transitioning to 1 nap?

WI/WO is the best way to get her back on track....see below FYI
