I would be so grateful if anyone can shed any light on what I can do for dd. She is one year old and normally goes down to sleep really well, altho it does take us about an hour and we usually have to put a hand on her for reassurance until she gets the "stare". Now she constantly tries to get up, and also she is literally on the verge of dropping off then suddenly something in her drives her to be wide awake!! Dh and I don't know what strategy to use next, we are very consistent parents which is why we don't know whether to change our routine. Here is her routine below:

6.30 wake
6.00 breakfast
9.30 milk 5 oz
10.30-11.30 sleep
12.00 lunch
2.00 milk 5oz
3.00-3.30 sleep
4.00 tea
6.15 bottle and bed routine - now taking too long!!

She may be ready to begin the transition to one nap; it sounds as though she might be UT at  bedtime.

When you put her down for her AM nap, is she REALLY ready for it or could she go a bit longer without falling apart? Could she make it, say, to 11?

Thanks, I didn't think she may be UT...yes, she probably could stay up longer for the AM nap.. what's the best way to implement this, is there a thread I can check out?

If you look in the Naps FAQ's there are probably some bits and bobs in there on the 2-1 transition. :)

I am going to move this over to toddler sleep as you will get more eyes and your LO is 12 months. :)

Thanks; the last couple of nights have been a lot better where we have managed to keep off the afternoon nap so it must be working..for now! I'll have a look at the toddler Nap section; thanks again!  :)
