Naps too long? Effecting sttn?
« on: April 06, 2011, 09:59:20 am »
My DS is 7 months (nearly 8 months) and he has only sttn on a few occasions. In the last few weeks he has been waking up at 3am happy chatting playing just awake. He does this for an hour or so until he tires out and I have to help him back to sleep until 7am. Our easy is something like this..

7 wake
7.30 breakfast
9.30 6oz bottle
10/10.30 nap 1.5-2hr
12 lunch
2 6oz bottle
2.30 nap 1.5hr
5 dinner
6.30 bath and 6oz bottlre
7 bed
10.30/11 DF 6oz

On the occassions that he has sttn he has had really short naps of 45 min/ 1hr at a time so only 2 hours max all day where as normally he gets 3-3.5hrs

Is he having too much day time sleep? Although tracy says he should be getting 3-4 hours at this age?? I'm so confused  :-\

I'd say his routine looks spot on.  The chatting at 3am could be UT though.  You could try limiting both his naps to 1.5 hours now to see if that helps.  Here are example routines for lo's around the same age to give you some ideas.

Thank you! I have tried limiting the naps today to 1hr 15 mins each so I will see if that helps. Fingers crossed!
