18-Month Old Not Settling at Night.... Please Help!
« on: April 07, 2011, 01:46:23 am »
Hello Ladies-

My son has just started to have an issue falling asleep and/or settling for bedtime lately and I don't know what the deal is.

His schedule has been the same for the last 4 months or so:

Wakes 8-8:15
Naps 1-2:30
Bedtime 8:15 but does not settle or sleep until 9:00 or so.

He used to lay for about 10 minutes and fall asleep with no problem... now we find ourselves having to go into his room and pat him; he HATES when he sees us walk out; it's like he doesn't want to be alone. Is this just a stage? Is he getting too much/too little sleep?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi! I didn't realize I had posted anything! There is an 18 month Sleep Regression thread here somewhere. I will try to find the link.

My son also all of a sudden started resisting bedtime. He is spirited and I thought it might be the stimulation of a bath, which he loves, right before bed time. Now we bathe him during the day. We used to do bath, Pj's/massage, bed. I also thought it might have to do with SA. So now we do PJ's/massage and then he sits on mine or DH's lap and we read books with him until bedtime, usually 15 min. I figured this gave him the chance to have physical contact with us right before bed. It seems to be working...most of the time!
