BW 4S Technique worked amazingly.. but now naps too well!!
« on: April 18, 2011, 09:48:16 am »
I started using the 4 S technique on my 12 week old after having major issues, and he has picked it up amazingly..he now self settles on his own using shush/pat and no longer needs to be rocked for his naps or use dummy (paci) to get to sleep at night! :)
The only thing is now he sleeps too well at his naps and I need to wake him up from them.. Is that OK????
A Typical EAS: (I do bath then feed, rather than other way round as works better for him)
06.00 - Awake
07.00 - E
07.30 - 09.00 - A
09.00- 10.45 - S (need to wake him up)
11.00 - E
11.30 - 1.00 - A
1.00- 2.00 or 2.45 - S (need to wake him up sometimes)
3.00 - E
3.30 - 4.30 - A
4.30 - 5.30 - S
5.45 - 6.30 - Naked time/bath
6.30 - E
7.00 bed (asleep by 7.30)
10.30 - Dreamfeed

Hi Joanne,
wow, well done you and baby!  There's no problem waking him up for his feed, I had to do it all the time when my LO was tiny and still do sometimes.  You're helping him get enough sleep, but not too much, during the day so he gets a good sleep at night.

Brilliant, congrats again!

Thanks.. We are both still in shock how well he goes to sleep now.. I never imagined it would work so quickly and have finally got rid of the dummy!!! We never wanted to give him one, but we had a hard time with lo in the first 3 weeks and was the only way to get him to settle at night. He is such a happier baby that I do not let him get overtired and he has lots if nice naps... I get BIG smiles when he wakes up!
