Restless Sleeping in Early Morning
« on: April 11, 2011, 13:24:11 pm »
My almost 6 week old DS sleeps restlessly from 6am-8am. He falls asleep after he eats around 6am (although today it was 4am, the only time he woke overnight to nurse! but the restlessness started at 6am.  His paci pops out or he squirms around and out of his swaddle wrap and he cries til I go reinsert or rewrap. Why would he do this? I have to admit, I went and got him about 650am this morning and let him sleep next to me in our bed  :-X He slept ok til 8am.

Hi, I am sorry no one responded to this.  I always found this time to be restless for both of my LOs.  Is your LO sleeping during the day?  This can be a rough time if your LO isn't napping during the day.  I think it is very hard to establish a routine this early, but are you following the basics of EASY?

He isn't sleeping well during the day recently, but today was much better!

I am just focusing on the E and S of EASY right now..but today I did more with the A and he seemed to nap well. I used to just hold and talk to him for the A I think that bored him.

EASY for this age is really wake, feed, diaper change, then back to sleep.  When you hit 2 months, you will see some more A time. http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=64158.msg476652#msg476652  I think the problem that happens a lot is that babies are awake for too long, then don't nap during the day, and have NWs and EWs.
