Quick illness/naps question!
« on: May 02, 2011, 16:42:55 pm »
So my lo is 11.5 mos, still 2 naps. Today she is ill with fever. Usually her am nap is 1.5-2hrs. Today I've let her sleep as long as she wants because she hasn't been well. Her A time between naps is about 3hr 15min. Which will likely put her for a very late catnap. So if she goes dwn for the catnap around 4ish do I only let her sleep 30min or let her go 45 to an hour? I'm alone for bedtime tonight and also have a 3 yr old who needs a bedtime routine. I am usually able to get dd in bed before him so it's not a problem, but now if I have to put her down at the same time or later that's going to be problematic  ??? Thoughts?

So she slept until 135! Now, do I just put her to bed early or slip in a 30min nap @5pm??

The general rule when they're ill is to let them sleep as long as they'd like.  She may go down on a much shorter A time for another nap if she isn't well.  I'd prob try and get another nap in, even if you're going to keep it short.  Again though, you might find she'll go down for the night after a second nap with a short A time if she's ill.  Some babies just like to sleep it off.

Let me know how she gets on and hope she's feeling better soon  :-*

It should be fine and hopefully she'll still go down for the night ok.  How's she feeling now?

A little lethargic, clingy you know fine if I'm holding her  ;) I'll give it a go a little early.

If she goes a little early I'd be inclined to let her sleep a little bit longer.  Maybe have a cut off time you don't want her sleeping past in order to get her down for the night at the time you want.

Down at 436. So I'm going to wake her at 515 in order to get her to bed by 730 and my toddler by 8pm! Wish me luck!

I didn't wake her until 530 so she had a 45min nap. I thought it might be a 730ish bedtime but she was so tired and rubbing her eyes I had her asleep by 715! And slept until 635 this morning. Unfortunately she still has a fever with no other symptoms so off to the doctor we go :( Thanks for the advice again it's always so helpful!
