I know I messed everything up
« on: May 12, 2011, 22:27:07 pm »
We were doing so well, I thought that I had this nap thing down. DD was up 2 hrs down 2 hours up, a cat nap and then bed. Now everything is out of whack. Over mother's day we were thrown off and my other daughter starting ballet lessons, I have thrown her off and I can't seem to get her back on a routine.

She is also putting some weight on her legs and moving around more. So when I go in to see her, she is all turned around. I try and pat shh and she keeps kicking her legs. Ahhhh!

What do I do now. I have ballet lessons tomorrow at 12:00 and think that I will have to cancel them so I can get DD on track.

She may need a routine tweak.  How old is she?  Can you post her current EASY?

OK, here is some generic version of what we are doing:

E 7 am
S 9 am (sometimes she sleeps over the 2 hrs)
E 11 am
S 1 pm
E 3 pm
S 5 pm
E 6 pm
E 730 pm
DF 1030

Would you like for me to write down what happens tomorrow. It was not this neat and pretty today. She was only sleeping about an hour and then waking up.

Is she about 4 months now?  Are you cutting A times after shorter naps?  Trying cutting the first A time to 1h 45mins today and see how she gets on.

i'm having similar w/ my 19 w.o! But we only just got into a gd 4hr easy (about a week ago) and he started to sttn. Suddenly he's kicking, crying and half rolling over. I'm not sure if its wind, OS, routine or developmental. It has been going for 4days when before he was sleeping independantly, taking gd naps etc. Now his naps are often 1.15, impossible to extend and he's waking at night. Previously sh/patt workd to calm him, now its v difficult to help him. Sounds like you have similar issues xx

Here's sample routines for her age:

Your A time looks about right but will need to be cut after a short nap.  I'd still try a slightly shorter morning one at first and see if that helps for now to get her on top of being OT.  As she approaches 5 months then the average A is 2-2.5 hours so you may need to start extending them.

How's she been getting on the last couple of days?

I could not believe that one short A time in the morning made such a difference! I tried it yesterday and I had to wake her up after 2 hours in the morning, same for the 2nd nap, 2 hours and then I woke her up. This morning she woke up for the first time at 6:00, she is normally 7:00 or 8:00. So I am having 3 two hour naps to make up for the early waking. I don't know if that is ok or not, but that is what I am doing so far.

She woke up this morning, but I pat shh her until she went back to sleep. So far so good. I am having some problems with her waking at night, but I suppose that should be posted on the night wakings board.

What do you think?

The nw's may be UT wakes due to too much day sleep.  I know you're trying to get her back on track though so maybe once she starts waking at normal time then start limiting her daytime sleep.
