Should i be happy with ......
« on: May 18, 2011, 12:31:07 pm »
a 1.5 hour nap???

my daughter used to sleep with out fail 2 - 2.5 hours in the afternoon...

my DS is 8 months old and this is his routine

7am wake breast
8am breakfast
9.30-10.30 nap
11.30 breast
12.00 lunch
1.00-2.30 nap
3pm breast
5pm solids
6pm bath
6.30 breast
7pm bed time

and dont you think between 2.30-7.00 is way too long to be awake for an 8 month old?

how can i get longer naps in the afternoon? my DD used to do 1-3 or 1-3.30 which used to be perfect as it wasnt too too  long till bed time?

Hi there

Would he do a slightly longer A time before his afternoon nap?  He looks to be doing 2.5hrs following his 1hr am nap, which is quite short for an 8 month old - maybe you could try increasing it a little say 5-10mins every few days, with the aim to eventually push that 2nd nap towards 1.30pm?  Might give you a longer nap.

AGree with pp.  I think you need to push your A time if you expect longer than a 1.5 hour nap although that is fairly typical.

6.5 - 7 months 2.75-3 hours. Some are getting more.
8 - 10 months 3 - 4 hours. Some are getting more.

At 8 months you would be aiming for 3 hours of A time. So a routine like:

7am Wake up
10am Nap
11.30am Wake up
2.30pm Nap
4pm Wake up
7pm Bed

So that makes you're day much more even and you no longer have the very long A time to bed.
