night waking since health issue
« on: May 23, 2011, 14:55:33 pm »
I am having some trouble determining how to get my 5 1/2 month old back on a good sleeping schedule.  between 5-8 weeks he was sleepnig from 11pm to 5 am which at the time I thought was excellent.  At 8 weeks old he was diagnoced with pyloric stenosis and was in hospitalized and had surgical proceedure with IV (no food) for a week. Since then he wakes in the night every 1.5 to 3 hours. takes a few oz and goes back to sleep (he eats pumped breasmilk) I would call him a &75% spirited 25% angel.

I have tried to increase his daytime calories but he is a grazer.  He eats 4 oz and then in 2 hours he will eat another 2 oz I cant seem to get him to eat a full meal (dr says he fully recovered from Pyloris issue)  His weight is great and always has been except for 1 pound he lost while ill.  He currently weighs 18.5 pds and was 8.13pds c-section birth.  Not sure how to stop night feeding when I cant get him to take more food in the day.  He eats 7-9 oz total in the evening.  I am struggling to get him on easy as his eating is so random.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much

Jen

Can you outline what your days looks like with times of eating and sleeping?

Is he taking any solids?  Have you tried to get him back to sleep without feeding?  How and what happens?  Is there a chance there is a reflux issue?  (Sorry, not familiar with pyloris in the least).
