Help - nap capping backfired - what now?
« on: June 22, 2011, 16:07:38 pm »
Hello :)

I have been getting major nap refusals and all out wars at BT for a couple of weeks so I think DD needs an A time increase.  She already has long days (14 hours!) and short nights of 10 hours (with no NW).    I tried capping her naps yesterday and I have an OT mess today!

Normally, she naps 1 hr 30 - 1hr 45 in the AM (but can be up to 2.5 hrs if she has had a rough night)
PM nap is normally 1 hr 45 - 2 hrs.

I capped both at 1 hr 15 min and did have a battle for the second nap - 30  minutes to get her down.  I am thinking she was OT from the AM cap??  BT was only a 10 minute fuss about and a bit of shush-pat.  She did STTN, but only her usual 10 hours.

Clearly, I capped too much.  She begged for her AM nap after 2.5 hrs A time (normally 3 - 3hr15)

Should I just leave her be this morning to get rid of the OT?

Hi Kara ;D

I guess it's probably too late now, but I would have left her to be in the morning and assumed it was OT. How did it turn out?

I did leave her be and she woke after 1 hr 20 min!  Needless to say, she begged for her PM nap just as much as the AM one and she had no fight in her at all!  BT was also easy... but she was a snarly mess the next morning!

I am going to try capping her AM nap only for a few days.  I let her sleep this morning after a 45 min long 3am crib party last night with a 520 wake up... bad idea!  She slept for 1 hr 50 and then battled me for an hour over her PM nap!
