How many feedings at 11 months?
« on: June 30, 2011, 15:24:14 pm »
My ds (11 months) recently self-weaned from nursing. I've been supplementing with my frozen stash and formula. How many bottles/feedings should he be having? He does 3 great solid meals and an occasional snack. He's not a big bottle drinker, so I've been doing 4 feedings still. Is that too much?

Here's what he usually does:
6am: 5oz bottle
7:15 breakfast
10:30ish 4oz bottle
12:00 lunch
3:00 4oz bottle
5:00 dinner
6:15 4oz bottle

As you can see, he takes about 17oz a day. Should I drop one of those or is it fine till he's 1 years old?

He should be getting 20 oz per day, but that includes and dairy like cheese/yogurt in his solids as well :)

Most babies at 11 months are down to 3, some at 2 bottles :)

I would still give him the AM bottle, then eliminate the 1030am one, move lunch to 1130... second bottle when he wakes from nap.. then dinner and a bedtime bottle :)

Thanks Kara! I'll try that. He'll probably want a snack in there mid morning (after that nap) so that will replace the bottle. Hopefully, then he will drink a little more of each bottle so we can keep it at 17-20 oz. He does get occasional cheese, but I haven't done yogurt yet. Best get some of that! :)

No problem Cyndie!  Feel free to add snacks where ever you think they need to go... you could offer a sippy with a couple ounces of formula with each snack to up his intake as well :)
