need help with short naps for 7 weeks old baby
« on: July 28, 2011, 00:18:47 am »
my 7weeks old baby has trouble with staying asleep during her day naps. were following the 3hour EASY but having problem with the naps. the longest my baby stays asleep is 40min and it seems that her naps are getting shorter and shorter. our Easy cycle typicaly looks like this:
9: eat for half an hour
9:30-10:10: activity. than she starts to fuss
10:10-10:30: winding down
10:30-11:10: sleeps and wakes up and i wneed to start it all over again.

i dont beleive she is overstimulated since we dont have any visitors, she is an only child and during our activities i typically sing to her or just talk while some tummy time.

she does sleep almost 6 hours at night 0am till about 6am.
right now every time she wakes up from hershort day nap i try to put her back to sleep but it becomes harder and harder and it seems that we re spanding more timw at the shshshing and pating rather than she actually sleeps.
please help! i'm consired for her development since she is not getting enough sleep.

Looking at what you posted, with her being awake from 9-10:30, that's an hour and a half of A time, which is quite a lot for a 7 week old.  Mine was doing about 45 minutes at that age.  Have your tried putting her to bed earlier?

Activity time = eyes open to eyes closed so the eating, winddown, everything in there counts as A time

Yes - I agree with Erin M.  It would be well worth you cutting down her activity time.  My 4 month old can only do 1.5 hour activity on some occasions.
