11 week old with short naps
« on: August 05, 2011, 07:24:40 am »
DD2 is 11 weeks and is having short and erratic naps. Occasionally we'll get a long one but generally they are 30 - 45mins. I think sometimes she wakes up with gas but other times she'll just be 'awake'.

Here is yesterday's EASY:
A - 7am
E - 7.20
S - 8.40
A - 9.30
E - 10.30
S - 10.45
A - 11.10
S - 12pm
A - 12.45
E - 1.05
S - 2.30
A - 3
E - 3.30
S - 4
A - 4.55
E - 6
E - 7.15
S - 7.25
E - 8.15
S - 8.30
A - 10.15 (crying; needed to poo)
E - 10.50
S - 11
E - 2am
S - 2.15
A - 3.45 (wiggling/crying)
E - 4
S - 4.15
E - 8.10
S - 9.10

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Becky,
What seems to be helping us is more of an AES routine so DD is feeding before sleep, but not to sleep iykwim. It depends on whether your DD is a sleepy baby or not. My DD is very alert so it is unusual for her to fall asleep at a feed but even if she does close her eyes she is usually awake when she goes into the bed. We have found a big difference with nap length when she is full - just seems to be the way she likes it atm. I know it is not the traditional EASY but for now we are getting better naps and we are all a bit happier. Not sure if that helps - just thought I would share xx

Hi Becky, that's interesting! She is very alert too and rarely sleeps on the breast except at night. I will definitely try to note whether she naps longer right after a feed... Thanks!

Ugh!! Not too good. We often manage one long nap, like today there was a 2.5hr nap but the rest were 30mins. She was very unsettled today though; wiggling and uncomfortable, despite having good bowel movements all day. She was also drooling a lot so I wonder if she's starting teething!! She took ages to settle tonight. Not actually crying, just wiggling and resisting me and just 'awake'!!

Lol, there's always something isn't there!!
