DF weaning problems
« on: September 05, 2011, 03:22:53 am »
I can tell DS is ready to start weaning the DF. He eats solids 3x a day and lately, I can just tell he isn't taking as much. I was going to start weaning by just giving him one side and seeing how that went. Then giving him that one side a half hour earlier every three days. I was waiting until we got his recent NWs under control (an EASY problem) - so I have not yet started this process.

For the past two nights I feel like I've been doing more harm than good. For one, he's completely OUT cold recently come DF time (which before solids, I could tell he was getting restless by this time bc of hunger). I'd start to feed him and he just keeps popping off. He'll suck for a second, and then pop off and start fussing. I make sure I have a let down before I go in so I know that's not the problem. So tonight I gave him the paci very soon after I realized it was a repeat of last night (last night escalated bc he got so wee*ed off). And his eyes immediately closed and he arched his back the way he does when he wants to be put in his bed. So I put him down and even though he was kinda fussy, I could tell he was just trying to settle back to sleep. So I stayed and shushed and sure enough, he just rolled over and went to sleep!

So....it's like he totally doesn't even want the DF anymore suddenly. I probably shouldn't even post this until after tonight when I see what happens but maybe other LOs have done this before? I'll update tomorrow after I see what happens during the night tonight.

Well....we had two NWs- one around 2:15 and another at 6. Both times he settled very easily with some shushing and the paci. He didn't wake to eat until 6:50! I'm assuming this means I should just not do the DF from now on since obviously he doesn't need it!

I still need to deal with these NWs tho  ::)

I would leave the DF for a few nights.  It could well have contributed to the NWs last night.

Can he replug his paci yet?

Sometimes. If it's close by and if he doesn't get himself too frustrated by trying to put it in  ::)
