I forgot to mention something strange- alot of the time i can only get him to eat laying flat on his back, i thought with reflux it would be the other way around (wanting to eat sitting up!) is there a chance this isn't reflux at all?

The Dr should know the dose range for the prevacid - there seems to be a huge range that babies are on, they will start low but should be willing to increase although you may need to be referred to a paed for higher doses.

How flat is he lying? If it is literally flat on his back I would make sure he is propped on a pillow at least, as he is more likely to choke and it can lead to ear infections if milk comes back up.

Hi Laura, thanks so much for the reply, yes he is wanting to eat laying flat on his back, I often have to put him laying on my knees or beside me on the couch to eat. I've been worried about ear infections too but nothing so far, I'll try to prop him up a little bit at least.

How long does the Prevacid take to start to working? It was a night and day difference after hours on the Zantac at first, I'm wondering how soon I'll know if the Prevacid is the answer or not.

One thing I have been wondering is if he's feeling side effects of the Zantac like headaches and that's causing some of the night wakings and fussiness, what do you think? More likely just teething right?

Thanks again,
Kati
