3 wk old Cluster Feeding & DF...HELP! Look at schedule please!
« on: October 31, 2011, 11:03:05 am »
We are following a light EASY plan..which is feeding every 3 hrs during the day, small A time and watching his cues for sleepiness and trying to put him down. He seems to have some gas issues so sometimes he'll have a great 1.5 hr nap between feeds other times he'll wake up crying within 45 mins. Im talking to the ped. about his current formula to see if we can get rid of this gas that I know is making him uncomfortable at times. We are currently on a 6,9,12,3,6,8,10,2 schedule Ive been doing a cluster feed at 6pm then bedtime routine..bath..then pjs..then a short nap then at 8 I also cluster feed him...is there any activity after this feed like a fresh diaper change before putting him down for the night since the 10 pm DF requires no A at all(not even a diaper change)? Also if you feel ur l/o is gassy how would I handle sticking with the DF but cutting out the cluster? Sample schedule would be appreciated!

If you don't do a cluster then the 6pm feed would be the bedtime feed and then you would just do a DF. If he is waking at 6am for the day then bedtime should be 6pm so he has a 12 hour day/ night. After a DF you just put them straight back down with no nappy change unless it's very full or dirty, he should sleep through a DF anyway so you just feed and lie back down.

Here is a link to the sample routines http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=164253.0. Don't think of this as a timed scedule, it's a routine, which is a predictable series of events which follow your LO's cues as much as time.

Well done for trying to get the EASY established, but don't worry if it takes a while for things to come together your baby is still tiny so take time to get to know him and understand his cues.

HTH!
