When do you stop burping??
« on: October 20, 2011, 18:05:06 pm »
Haha, I realize this is a really weird question...

With DD when she was first born, we burped after every 1-2 oz, then gradually moved to every 3 oz, and so on. Eventually I burped her at the end of the bottle and then I just stopped.

So when do you stop? I don't remember how old she was when I stopped burping...any thoughts on this?

Generally once they can sit up unaided they can pretty much burp themselves I think.  Having said that we still rub our 14mo DS's back after his BT bottle, just to help bring it up before bed!  Probably don't need to be doing that but its just for peace of mind!

I generally give her a rub, but it rarely works!  I do try a little harder at bedtime though...

I think I stopped really "burping" her at about 7 months or so...

ETA: I never burped DD during a bottle - she always got mad if I stopped in the middle.  She has taken a bottle without a stop for a burp since about a week old ;)  She takes a 9 oz bottle now without a stop ;)

Thanks everyone....he's only 2 months and still gets gassy if he doesn't burp so I know its not time to stop yet, but I was wondering when. I appreciate the responses!
