Nine Month Old Refusing Breast
« on: January 02, 2012, 07:37:21 am »
Help! My nine month old has (I think) gone on a nursing strike and I'm wondering what to do. She has never refused the brast before, not even when she has been ill. Any ideas as to how I can get her feeding again as I'd planned to fed up to one year.

How is she doing today?
The best advice I can give you is to just keep offering - even at times different from when she usually nurses -- sometimes if you can catch her straight off a nap before she's properly awake she might be more receptive to nursing.  Any idea as to the cause?  Teething?  Illness?  You might try meds or a teething ring before nursing to make it more comfortable for her to nurse.

Also, here is a sticky with lots of great info:

Thanks. Only lasted one day - not sure what it was that caused it but all back to normal now.
