Feeding Stress
« on: October 28, 2011, 15:51:59 pm »
My little Alicia is 1 month old. Im having a lot of trouble in feeding her. She is taking the bottle and breastfeeding. In both ways she gets so nervous. She cries, moves arms and legs, moves her head back while eating. She eats every 3 hours. About 5 minutes after starting her show she seems to calm down and finishes sleeping.
I have the feeling that she is very stressed out because now when not sleeping she is crying and has to stay up in our arms to calm down. I cant make her stay in bed for 5 minutes.
Im feeling very tired and could use some help over here.
Im sorry for the english, i m from Brazil.

Thanks a lot
Christiana

Hi Christiana,

Welcome to BW forums. :)

I am also from Brazil and my dear daughter DD2 is 3 weeks old, so about the same age as your little one (LO).

I am sure the ladies from the website are going to help you better than I do as I am also struggling with my newborn.
Have you thought about her being impatient to wait for the letdown when breasfted? And maybe when you offer her the bottle, she might be nervous because she expected to feel skin to skin contact? Just thoughts, though.

You can PM me if you prefer.

Good luck.

Lidia

How often is she having a bottle? Are there any feeds that are easier than other?

Have a look here too and see if anything seems familiar http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=654.0

Hi Laura,

almost everytime she has a bottle because breastfeeding is not easy for her. Since she was born I had trouble with it. She never took the right breast and even the left one is a problem. I have to spend some time trying to make her suck the right way. I m going to read the text indicated.

Thanks
Chris

Has she been checked for tongue tie at all? That can really have an impact on breastfeeding, even a minor tie can cause big problems.
