When should BT be after 45 min catnap?
« on: December 22, 2011, 02:29:57 am »
I can't quite get the timing right here. My DS is 4 months old. I just moved his A time up to 2 hours as of this week. What is the right A time after the catnap? I can't seem to get it right. He is either UT or OT and it's causing NWs- sometimes like 2 or 3 right after bedtime. I also had a couple of days where his morning nap was short, so he had 2 short naps...then he took a longer afternoon nap so I let him go and didn't wake him, and then we skipped the catnap because there wasn't time for it. He woke those two nights after the 45 min timeframe...so, even though the time of night is the same for bed, did he think that was the catnap? This LO is extremely tricky- spirited/touchy and reflux...so we are constantly trying to figure him out and he has only slept with one NW like 4 nights in all 4 months. I am trying so hard to get him on a good night schedule. We just weaned the paci too, he had 4 great nights and now we are back to a lot of NWs.

Have a look at these sample routines for 4 mo http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=164029.0 They should give you some good ideas about what kind of A time your LO could do. It really depends on what your EASY looks like, what time DS wakes from the CN and how long the CN is.

Great, thanks for attaching the samples. It looks like there is quite a variety- some even go the entire A time. He only takes a 30 min catnap from 5:30-6....so I had been putting him to bed at 7:00 or 7:15 and it didn't seem to go well. Tonight he went down better at 7:30 so maybe I just play around with it and hope that is what works for him! THanks!

Sounds like a good plan, it will take some tweaking to find what works for your DS. Good luck.
