I was originally thinking PU/PD with just PD after he stands up....but he gets so upset that it seems it would take ages to get him to sleep and with DD to get to bed also and being home most nights alone I don't think that will work well. I'm thinking GW with the but jiggle.. Get him to sleep with no rocking/bottle/being held by using the butt jiggle and try to use it less and less taking away my hand periodically to see if he can get to sleep without my assistance. Does that sound appropriate?

I think that sounds like a good place to start. I have never been able to do pupd as I can't take the screaming, so I would go the route you're taking.

We are having a bit of a shocker here. He's waking earlier and earlier in the night - 11 last night - and the mornings are getting earlier as well. He has taken to waking at 4.15 and not really going back to sleep. He's a bit miserable at times during the day, but not all the time, so I don't really know what is going on. He has woken twice this evening already (it's not even 9pm yet) which he hasn't done for months so there is clearly a thing. I suspect that tonight is going to be a real test of my resolve, because it is shaping up to be a nightmare.

I am struggling over here. Already I haven't followed through with my plan. I have a cold and I am super tired. I tried to stick to the lie him down, jiggle his butt plan. It worked after about 20 minutes which wasn't too bad but then he was awake about 20 minutes after that. When I went to him he was really upset and kept crying and seeming uncomfortable even when I held him so the plan got tossed out b/c I thought it might be his teeth. Took a lot of jiggling, rocking, bouncing, cuddling, putting him in and taking him out and putting him in and taking him out and baby motrin/ibuprofen to get him back to sleep. I guess I need to wait a bit if his teeth are going to put a kink in the works.

Not going so well here, either - x is teething too and just seems so uncomfortable it doesn't seem fair not to pick him up and cuddle him.

The night before last was really good, though - he slept until 2, I fed him and gave him meds and he went back to sleep until 6.19 (I get up at 6.20!). Last night was back to disastrous, though - he woke at 12 so I fed and gave him meds, but he woke at 4.30 and didn't go back to sleep until after 6, at which point he got about 15 minutes. The thing that was different about Monday night was that he had his supper early so there was a lot longer between his solids and his milk so I think he took more milk - I'm going to try to give him supper earlier tonight to see if it helps.

So last night DS fell asleep on the bottle which wasn't my intention but bedtime was a bit late. But then he slept ALL NIGHT! No idea how or why! He kept waking, tossing and turning and crying out....but he kept falling back to sleep within seconds on his own before I ever had to get up.Weird.
