Couldn't find this answer in FAQ's
« on: December 20, 2011, 23:29:06 pm »
Sorry, couldn't seem to find this answer - I know around 10 months, the afternoon feed is dropped. When is the mid morning feed usually dropped?

Is Oliver losing interest too? Yesterday Isaac wasn't interested but I thought it might be bc we had company. Made a bottle and he only drank an ounce. Today I he just kept Playing around ::). I tried again 5 minutes later and he did eat a little but it wasn't for long and he didn't want the other side. It was like this right before he dropped the afternoon feed. Just didn't know if it haPpened this early.

I know the WHO recommend 4 BFs a  day until 1 YO.

With DD1 I dropped a day feed about 10-11 months, maybe more 10 months.  She had a fab varied diet and plenty of dairy etc and just wasn't interest in the feed after the first nap.  We did still have 4 feeds some days but most days she was content with 3 day feeds.

With DD1 I kept 4 milk feeds to over a year as she wasn't so interested in solids.

some days, yes but other days he would have milk constantly (and food too!) - looked in my baby book and Murray started to drop his other daytime feed around 11 months (he did this naturally if i remember rightly) ...

Mine dropped the 3rd feed as such after they turned 1yo, but some days they would have had (and still do) have extra cups of cows milk on some days.

We dropped the afternoon feed when DS1 moved to 1 nap at 12.5mo and then the other day time feed a few months later when I just stopped offering when he woke from his nap.
I actually thought the WHO recs were 4BFs a day at 10mo but I could be wrong.

Well DS is still taking some milk but he's more interested if I wait past the 4 hr mark and it's still a very short feed.

I think the older they are the more efficient they are at getting the milk too ....

Maybe it's just a matter of shifting it back an hour or two?  Might help him be more interested.

I was going to post what Erin said...we kind of merged the morning and afternoon feeds if that made sense...when Z headed towards the 2-1 but he was early to 1 nap.

Thanks for the suggestion...yea, some days it just sorta works out that way, too. So I might try to push it back to more like 5-6 hours and maybe that will help. :) Thanks!
