Laughing in crib before falling alseep - ???

My 20 month old DD can definitely settle herself to sleep. We put her in when she's tired, and she can fall asleep on her own with no problems.

BUT - lately she's been laughing in her crib and babbling a lot (she's not really talking yet, I have a whole other thread on that issue, maybe the babbling is her "practicing"?? Its very recent and its combined with increased babbling during the day). The babbling I think I've heard about, but all of a sudden we'll hear her hysterical laughing. Its kind of strange and I can't lie...a little disturbing. What could possibly be so funny in her crib in the dark?? Has anyone ever heard of this?? Its usually on and off for a few minutes then she falls asleep until morning.

Defiantly normal!  Sounds like she's just practicing her new sounds.  DS2 does it as well but he can be in bed for a while now before he goes to sleep so just lays there chatting to himself!

I figured the babbling was normal, but laughing?? I wonder what she's laughing at??

i am leaning more towards what karen said.  DS started about six months ago to start going through the happenings of the day after we put him to bed in the dark!!  Still cant get him to talk about those beforehand but the chatting has dropped a bit.  Perhaps she just went through another milestone and able to remember more and also think about little things she finds funny or thinking of the little funny faces you made to her ;)
