NFs at 8.5 months
« on: March 01, 2012, 17:59:59 pm »
Hi everyone! I'm about to start PU/PD with DS2 and wanted to know about NFs in other babies at 8 months just to get a guideline.

I know that he still needs a NF, so I'll be keeping the 1am feed because it really doesn't bother me (I actually like it a lot) and it's pretty easy to get rid of down the line (at least it was with DS1...). However, he wakes up at 4:50am pretty much every day and I've been nursing him back to sleep, but I'm wondering if I should ditch that one, or if this is a normal feed time for others and need to keep it. He can go about 4.5 to 5 hours during the day, so I don't see any reason why he can't make it from 1am to 6:30am... but maybe he still needs it? It's funny, while the 1am feed fluctuates from 12am to 2am, the 4:50am stays rather constant. It makes me think it's just programmed. Anyway.

In short, what is your 8 - 9 month old doing in terms of night feeds?

At 9 months we did a df and then mostly made it until morning.  You're reasonable just expecting the 1 I would think as long as he's getting enough during the day.

By that stage, I think we were having 1NF around 2-4am (as I recall!)

At 8 months we had no NF but our last feed of the day was formula and DD was a solids monster! We went fully on to formula shortly after she turned 8 months, or maybe it was 9.  :-[

I ditched the NF with PU/PD at 6 months.  :-X

I kwym about liking the NF, I did too. The time passes so fast so enjoy!  ;D

hi, you say the later NF happens always at the same time which sounds like habitual waking so you could try eliminating that one and see what happens.  I think by 8 months your LO definitely can make it with only 1 NF :)

Thank you ladies! I appreciate all of the feedback. I'm going to stop the 4:50am feed starting now, and see what happens.
